King & McGaw are proud to unveil a series of Special Edition prints published in partnership with Nikoleta Sekulovic and Rebecca Hossack Art Gallery.
Nikoleta Sekulovic is an artist and mother, currently living and creating in Madrid. Born in Rome to a German mother and a Serbian father, she has worked in London, Paris and New York, exhibiting across these cities. Sekulovic creates in the tradition of Odalisque portraiture and yet redefines her subject as both parent and muse. In a muted palette and void of props and distractions, her intent is to highlight the female form stripped of external expectations and in a state of authenticity, as opposed to more traditional expressions of sexuality.
The Special Editions, each in a print run of 250, are giclée print on 330gsm Somerset Velvet cotton rag paper, embossed with a King & McGaw Editions stamp and delivered with a certificate of authenticity.
"My hope is that my work, in some way, inspires more women and mothers to dig into their vision and potential."
- Nikoleta Sekulovic
The Special Editions are part of Sekulovic's 'Mother and Muse' collection which portrays the modern-day mother as a muse. Restoring one of the great subjects of Western Art to the intimacy of the 'female gaze', Sekulovic has established an international reputation with her restrained yet evocative paintings of unclothed women. The models, all know to the artist and all fellow mothers, have been given classical titles - the names of ancient Greek female goddesses, poets and philosophers.
