Eclat du Jour

Art print by Alphonse Mucha #413272

About the artist

Born in 1860 in Ivancice, Morovia (now part of the Czech Republic), Alphonse Maria Mucha was a key figurehead of the Art Nouveau movement.

Following his artistic training in Prague and Munich, Mucha believed in bringing art to everyone and so he spent his early career working in the advertising industry - designing packaging, posters and stamp illustrations, before becoming a book illustrator. He rose to prominence in 1894 when the theatrical poster he produced for 'Gismonda', was plastered all over the streets of Paris.

Mucha’'s works are characterized by an ethereal aesthetic typified by strong, young women in goddess-like robes surrounded by lush flowers. Faithfully reproduced, these prints make wonderfully romantic additions to your walls.
