      About the Artwork

This high quality print is based on a watercolour entitled 'Phlox drummondii' by Caroline Maria Applebee painted c.1848. Applebee was born in London in 1799 and appears to have been the daughter of a wealthy middle-class family that had conservatories and greenhouses providing access to the plants and flowers she painted.
