Ed Ruscha (born 1937) is an American artist whose career spans the decades from the early 1960s until the present day. Responding to the quintessentially Californian consumer culture of Los Angeles, Ruscha’s unique style of Pop art gives new meaning to ordinary objects. He is well known for his paintings of words as glorified, visual objects that explore the intimate relationship between language and font.
