    About the Artwork

This high quality print is based on a watercolour on vellum by Emma Smith dating c.1780s. Emma Smith was one of four daughters of Joshua Smith the MP for Devizes in Wiltshire. The Smith sisters were instructed in painting by the botanical artist Margaret Meen (fl.1775-1806). The RHS Lindley Library collection holds works on vellum by Meen and all of the Smith Sisters.
