This high quality print is based on a chromolithographic illustration entitled Petunia, showing P. violacca (abondance) and P. nyctaginiflora (Comtesse d'Elseneuse). Lithographed by G. Severeyns (fl.1830s-1890s) after an original by P. Lambotte (fl. 1860s-1870s). From Les Promenades de Paris, by Jean Charles Adolphe Alphand (1817-1891), published in Paris between 1867 and 1873. The work contains illustrations of a variety of aspects of the French capital, including views of historic Parisian gardens and portraits of some of the plants cultivated in them. [Plate 46].
