      About the Artwork

This high quality print is based on a watercolour on vellum of Cymbalaria muralis (ivy leaved toad flax) by Georg Dionysius Ehret. Ehret settled in England in 1736 and was employed in the Oxford Botanic Garden in 1750. He painted flowers for English patrons and also taught flower-painting, this work was originally part of the collections of the Duchess of Portland.
