In 1959 Peter Cushing was concerned that Bill Wiggins' painting misrepresented The Mummy, so asked director Terence Fisher if he could add a scene where his character drove a harpoon through the mummys body. And thats what I did, he remembered, thus giving some sort of logic to the illuminated gap depicted on the posters.
