Joseph Farquharson

Joseph Farquharson

Born in Edinburgh in 1846, Joseph Farquharson was a tremendously skilled and popular painter, renowned for his snowscapes and countryside scenes. Though he travelled across Paris and Egypt, many of his paintings depict the rigours of his native Scotland and the rigours of the winter climate. Though remarkably realistic, Farquharson’s paintings are highly poetic and often take their titles from poems by Milton and Shakespeare
