Art print by Liz Myhill #104164

Liz Myhill

Liz Myhill was born in Inverness in 1980 and spent her childhood in a small crafting township on one of the northern peninsulas of the Isle of Skye. Now a noted Scottish contemporary painter, her work has been exhibited throughout the United Kingdom but is particularly associated with the Highlands and Islands of Scotland.

As a child, she had a voracious appetite for story-telling, which was only enhanced by growing up in such a remote area of the United Kingdom. She took an Honours degree in Illustration and Printmaking at the Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in Dundee but her idyllic upbringing on the Isle of Skye has ensured that she remains very much inspired by the landscape, seasons and community values, which typify Scottish highland and island life.

Describing her artwork as "both vibrant and lively; hopefully an evocative impression of place", Liz Myhill now works in a variety of media including watercolour, mixed media and print. A typical piece is completed by laying down large areas of handmade and tissue papers to set the background colour, and then by working into the piece with watercolours, acrylic, pencil and anything else that comes to hand. She also often uses block printing.

Away from the artistic field, Liz Myhill loves to travel and would particularly like to spend time travelling in India and the Far East.
