Green Red on Orange

Art print by Mark Rothko #7891

Mark Rothko

Mark Rothko
Mark Rothko (1903-1970) was a celebrated Abstract Expressionist best known for his large, iconic 'colour field' paintings with blocks of glowing colour. Rothko devised a unique method to achieve luminosity in his work by applying thin washes of oil paint. Obsessed by colour, Rothko carefully composed his paintings to evoke a variety of emotions in the viewer. His soft, rectangular forms seem to float gently on the canvas. Rothko made an impressive contribution to American art and is considered one the most significant artists of the 20th century.

The actual picture comes with the artist name in a rather large font size , which is not shown online. However, the main problem is the density of the paper. For the price of the print I had imagined that I wouldn’t need to pay extra to my picture framer when the print started bending / curling for them to glue it on a cardboard and reframing it again. This increased the framing costs around ten percent. Not happy at all!
