Tate Art prints & posters
When Tate first opened its doors to the public in 1897 it had just one site, named the National Gallery of British Art. Today Tate has four major sites (Tate Britain, Tate Modern, Tate Liverpool and Tate St Ives) and houses the national collection of British art from 1500 to the present day as well as international modern and contemporary art, which includes nearly 70,000 artworks.
Victor Pasmore ( 1908-1998) was at the forefront of the British abstract movement in the mid 20th Century. Pasmore's development of abstraction can be traced in the Tate's collection of his work. Early pieces show elements of landscape, with later work moving to focus purely on abstract form.
