Born in Redditch, Worcs, Alan trained at Bourneville and Birmingham Colleges of Art. He works mainly in oils, using painting knives, sculpting the paint in rich, vibrant colours. In 2005 he was invited to accompany HRH the Prince of Wales as his Tour Artist, travelling to Sri Lanka, Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.
