Edouard Manet

Born in Paris in 1832, French painter Edouard Manet was one of the first 19th century artists to move from Realism towards Impressionism, depicting everyday scenes of people and city life.

Early paintings Le Déjeuner sur l'Herbe and Olympia, are regarded as his most significant works, marking the genesis of modern art. In each, female nudes stare directly at the viewer which was at once shocking and groundbreaking.

This collection of faithfully reproduced prints and posters offer the full breadth of of Manet’s vision, ranging from his best loved to little known works.
