Heywood Hardy (1842-1933) was a painter and etcher of animals, portraits and sporting subjects. Born in Chichester to a family of artists, his own artistic studies took him to Paris and Antwerp. Eventually he settled in London in 1870. His scenes conjure the anticipation and enjoyment of a hunting meet.
