4. The Daughter of the Mighty Ones from Taro: Major Arcana

Ithell Colquhoun (1906–1988) was a trailblazing British artist, author, and occultist who fused Surrealism with hermetic ritual. After studying at the Slade School of Fine Art, she gained acclaim for her "psychomorphologies"—works exploring the intersection of psychic space and the natural world.

Though a key figure in the British Surrealist Group, Colquhoun was expelled in 1940 for refusing to renounce her occult research. Undeterred, she moved to Cornwall, where the rugged landscape inspired her mastery of automatic techniques like decalcomania. Today, her legacy as a pioneer of feminist surrealism continues to inspire those interested in the intersection of consciousness, nature, and the hidden forces of the universe.
