Birth, 1956

Lee Krasner (1908-1984) was an influential American Abstract Expressionist painter. Her works are characterised by painterly, abstract forms that express introspective subject matter. As well as painting Krasner would create large collages from her own cut-up paintings and drawings. Krasner was married to fellow painter Jackson Pollock. Today Krasner's works are in museum collections such as The Museum of Modern Art New York and the Tate Gallery London.
