Tournee du Chat Noir

A key figure in the Art Nouveau movement, as a printmaker Theophile Steinlen was responsible for several iconic images, notably Le Chat Noir poster he produced for the Paris cabaret club. Alongside printmaking Steinlen also painted, with much of his work published in magazines under a pseudonym so as to avoid association with illustrations which were overtly critical of contemporary social conditions.
