Allen W. Seaby Art Prints

Allen William Seaby (1883–1953) was a British artist, woodblock printmaker, illustrator and educator, best known for his depictions of wildlife, particularly birds, in their natural habitats. His colourful woodcut prints, held in the V&A collection, exemplify his skill in combining the scientific accuracy of natural history with his love of printing in the Japanese style. Alongside the illustrations he provided for the two Ladybird books of British Birds and Their Nests, he also authored a number of influential articles on the technique of colour woodcut and lino engraving, which remain important contributions to the field of printmaking.
