Decorative art tends to have a functional purpose and work well art part of interior design. Whereas fine art is produced solely for aesthetic purpose, decorative art is seen to have wider uses. However, the distinction is often blurry - with the nineteenth century Arts and Crafts movement stressing the artistic merit of artisan craftsmanship, and that artshould be part of everyday surroundings.
