Born in Brighton in 1942 Jennifer Durrant trained at Brighton College of Art and then at the Slade School of Fine Art 1963-66. She has works in public and corporate collections including the Tate Gallery, London and Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Her work has been praised for its symbolic resonance, and is often discussed in terms of its unworldliness, resisting definition. Jennifer Durrant is a fellow of the Royal College of Art, and was elected a Royal Academician in 1994. She currently lives and works in Umbria, Italy.
