Theo van Doesburg (1883-1931) was a Dutch artist best known as the leader of De Stijl, a design movement devoted to pure geometry and abstraction. Much like the Bauhaus, De Stijl aimed to merge the fine and applied arts. Van Doesburg simplified his compositions down to essential form favouring black, white and primary colours.
We started out as a small screenprinter in a Brighton basement. Today we've grown to a factory and design studio in Newhaven. Headed by found Gyr King, we have a simple ethos to bring inspiring, affordable art to everyone.
Pleased with the canvas. Looks great and seems well made... it's nicely square with no twist to the frame. There's only one hanging point, which makes sense give that the artist intended it to be hung with a specific orientation, but with these abstracts some people might choose landscape over portrait so the option would be nice. That said, it's easy enough to either move the hanging point (it's screwed to the frame) or just balance the frame on the mounting screw (one is supplied with the canvas). Similar price to other sites, but shorter lead time. The only slight criticism is that the canvas seems smoother and less textured than some I've bought from other suppliers, but it still looks good.
