Victor Gilbert (1847 - 1933) was born in Paris. He loved to paint scenes of everyday life and was particularly interested in the portrayal of social gatherings. His depictions of colourful Parisian hustle and bustle; boulevards, cafés, and parties, have become loved and admired.
