Wayne Thiebaud

Wayne Thiebaud (1920-2021) was an American artist who created a profound body of Modernist paintings. Predating the Pop art movement, Thiebauld’s subject matter focused on quintessential Americana. Diners, cakes, gum ball machines, ice cream sundaes and lollipops form the focus of his still life paintings, whose application of colour, and atmospheric shadow and tone, create a familial feel of nostalgia.
