Roast Turkey Shopping Bag by Roy Lichtenstein

Roast Turkey Shopping Bag by Roy Lichtenstein

This Roy Lichtenstein silkscreen print shopping bag was produced in conjunction with the exhibition 'Shopping: A Century of Art and Consumer Culture' at Tate Liverpool, 20th December 2002- 23rd March 2003. Printed by King & McGaw with authorisation of the Estate of Roy Lichtenstein and DACS. This shopping bag is very rare ephemera surviving from the iconic exhibition.

The shopping bags produced for Tate Liverpool were inspired by the 1964 Pop Art exhibition, 'American Supermarket', which featured Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol and other Pop artists. The exhibition was designed to resemble a real supermarket, complete with shelves, aisles and a checkout counter. Artworks were displayed alongside the commercial items they depicted, blurring the line between art and consumption. The artists printed mass-produced shopping bags to accompany the show.

Framing details: This print comes in a fully archival bespoke frame selected by our designers. The artwork is float-mounted on conservation mount board in a black stained ash frame recessed with cotton core fillet and UV cast acrylic glazing.

Please note, very limited quantity available.

Size: 57 x 70 cm
