Bernard Payet was born in Lyon in 1950 and spent all his childhood in France.
He studied and trained at the Academie ALPA of Lyon from 1974-1976, having been inspired by his visits to local museums and galleries during his childhood to take up art as a career.
Bernard Payet has shown his work at dozens of exhibitions around France since the late 1970s and has received many awards, including the Prix de la Côte d'Azur (section Fleurs) and the Prix du Salon International de Marseille. He is also a member of the Maison des Artistes in Paris.
The artist generally paints in oil on canvas or in acrylic on paper and his powerful and vibrantly coloured works are greatly inspired by the landscapes and views of the Côte d'Azur, where he has made his home.
