Reverie, 1868

Dante Gabriel Rossetti (1828-1882) helped found the English Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, a school of painting that aimed for a return to the Italian style before Raphael. His sublime portraits were also influenced by folklore. One of his favourite subjects was Jane Morris, the wife of his friend William.
