Born in Paris, Édouard Manet (1832 - 1883) connected with the Impressionist movement from its fledgling days but his early paintings ‘Le Déjeuner sur l’Herbe’ and ‘Olympia’ are regarded as his most significant works, marking the genesis of modern art. In these paintings female nudes stare directly at the viewer, which was at once shocking and groundbreaking to Manet’s contemporaries. <p>This collection of faithfully reproduced prints and posters offer the full breadth of of Manet’s vision, ranging from his best loved works to lesser-known treasures.
