Esther Wragg art prints and posters

Esther Wragg was born in Watford, Hertfordshire, and studied textile design at Liverpool from 1977-1980 and at the Royal College of Art in London from 1980 to 1982.

Her father was a photographer and she was therefore aware of the importance of visual qualities in art from an early age. She recalls wanting to be an artist when as young as 5 and, throughout her childhood years, she loved to draw and paint. She was particularly inspired as a child by the drawings of Leonardo Da Vinci and she also drew many fantasy pictures inspired by books she was reading; in particular J R R Tolkein’s trilogy “Lord of the Rings” and “The Hobbit”.

She also spent many of her childhood holidays with her Dutch grandparents in Haarlem in Holland, and her Dutch heritage is very important to her. Initially Esther Wragg designed knitted fabric swatches for leading fashion houses but subsequently she turned her attention towards more figurative work. Since then, her work has been featured on numerous best-selling greetings cards published by some of the most respected companies in the industry.

She uses a variety of media, ranging from textiles through to acrylics and oils, and in recent years she has created sand-cast stoneplaster reliefs. Her work has been exhibited in galleries throughout the United Kingdom. Esther Wragg is a partner in a design business with her husband and they live in Hertfordshire with their three children. Her interests include gardening, swimming, reading, travelling and photography.
