      About the Artwork

This high quality print is based on a watercolour on vellum of plant identified as Hypericum, painted by G. D. Ehret. Ehret was born in Germany and in 1736 his drawings for George Clifford were used in Linnaeus's Hortus Cliffortianus. Ehret later moved to England and worked at the Chelsea Physic Garden and Oxford Botanic Garden.
