This high quality print is based on a watercolour on paper of, 9. Satyrium nepalense: 10. Platanthera cubitalis: 19. Ipsea speciosa by the artist Harmanis de Alwis Seneviratna from a bound volume of 'Cingalese Drawings' owned by John Lindley (1799-1865). De Alwis was draughtsman at Peradeniya Botanic Garden, Ceylon (Sri-Lanka) 1823-61. The drawings in this volume were executed while James Macrae was Superintendent of the gardens from 1827-1830. Also bound in the volume are drawings by Franz Bauer (1758-1840).
