Art prints & frames, handmade in England since 1982
In 2002 artist, printer and designer Helen set up a solo letterpress operation, Hi-Artz Press, after she became increasingly frustrated with digital technologies. In 2004, while studying for an MA in Communication Design, London, Helen travelled to Nashville, USA, to work as an intern at the famous Hatch Showprint letterpress shop, where she worked on posters for such clients as the Grand Ol Opry and the Country Hall of Fame.
Nowadays, Helen is regularly commissioned for editorial and music industry illustration work, and in addition her linocut and letterpress posters are exhibited and sold in galleries all over the world and featured in many specialist design books and periodicals.
When she isnt working in her Luton workshop, she can be found teaching others the art of letterpress printing at Central Saint Martins College and St Bride Foundation in London.
Her house style is evocative, upbeat, big on rootsy rocknroll culture and vernacular language with large elements of humour and humanity. Everything is produced on vintage printing equipment, which Helen maintains and restores.
Helen also rides an old Triumph 750 motorcycle and plays mandolin with 6-piece Western Swing band, the Shooting Stars.
