L. S. Lowry (1887-1976) is best known for painting industrial scenes of North West England in the mid 20th century. His characteristic style has a dreamlike quality, populated by stylised figures referred to as 'matchstick men'. Although Lowry was trained in academic drawing, he chose to develop his own naive style which has brought him widespread recognition. His mysterious, weatherless landscapes express a personal response to the world around him that never fails to bewitch the viewer. Lowry's paintings tell the true tale behind English city life.
We started out as a small screenprinter in a Brighton basement. Today we've grown to a factory and design studio in Newhaven. Headed by founder Gyr King, we have a simple ethos to bring inspiring, affordable art to everyone.
We loved the colours in this seascape and even more so because it didn't shout Lowry. Even better now we have it on the wall. Our dealings with K&McG were very professional. The three pictures we bought arrived very promptly and so well packaged.
An unusual Lowry picture the sails give feeling of movement The framing of the print is very good and would allow use in the majority room locations
Pleased with print and it looks good in our dining room. Unfortunately a small faint finger print is just visible at the bottom of white border but decided not to return for an exchange.
A nice picture. It is,in many ways atypical of L.S. Lowry and most people would not associate it with him. About a week after I received it i thought "Why are all these boats so close together and all in full sail".
Not a realistic situation. Blame it on to 'Artistic licence' I suppose.
Anyway I like the picture. Mine is printed on sturdy canvas with a sturdy frame and i did not have to wait long for its arrival
Lovely picture - exceeded expectations both for quality and appearance. Everyone has commented on good it looks hanging in the bathrom where the grey frame complements the new cupboards and tiles. Excellent value for money.
