Art prints & frames, handmade in England since 1982
At the beginning of the 20th century a set of American painters sought to capture elements of everyday life, documenting a society dealing with unprecedented change. Artists tended to adopt a clear, unfussy style in an attempt to accurately capture the events they saw. Most prominent of this group is Edward Hopper who offered a personal vision of how humans were interacting with their new environments, both urban and rural. Works of his, such as 'Nighthawks' and 'Early Sunday Morning' have found iconic status, becoming synonymous with the America of a bygone era. The artists' overriding commitment to capturing what was real, at a time when much of contemporary art was focussed in an entirely different direction, ensures that they enjoy continued attention.
