Art Nouveau enjoyed its greatest popularity toward the end of the 19th and early 20th centuries. The distinctive style was attached to an ideal that art should be a way of life. Accordingly Art Nouveau designs are as likely to be found in homeware, furniture and jewellery as they are in painting and architecture. A key exponent of the style was Gustav Klimt, a Viennese painter whose primary subject was the female body, often using gold leaf to dazzling effect. He created a body of work that has remained utterly distinct and amongst the most popular of any artist. Our range of prints and posters features much of his work alongside other important artists from the movement and iconic poster art.
