Highland Cattle Study I

Chris Tancock

Born in Devon in 1957, Chris studied Photography at Trent University, then worked as a documentary photographer through the 70s and 80s. He worked freelance in interiors for magazines during the 90s, and in 2003 started working exclusively as an art/story photographer.

The majority of his work is now committed to extending the aesthetic beauty of photography beyond the individual image into something where the whole is greater than the parts. There are times, however, when Chris feels driven to create a purely aesthetically beautiful self-contained image.

His photographic studies represent a quest for that perfect balance of form, subject and lighting - those decisive moments when visual poetry is achieved.
