Art of the Selfie Photo Competition

To celebrate art in the age of the selfie,  we are running the ultimate #ArtOfTheSelfie competition. Share your most imaginative selfies for your chance to win £500, a special edition print of your work and fantastic prizes from the ArtFund and the National Portrait Gallery.

How to enter

1. Take your best selfie (it can be in the medium of your choice – from illustration and painting to classic photography and everything in between, so long as it’s something you created yourself.)

2. Upload to Instagram, Twitter or Facebook with @kingandmcgaw #artoftheselfie

3. The best entries will be on display at the King & McGaw Art of the Selfie Pop Up Gallery in Old Street, London 4th-14th November.

Come and visit The Art of the Selfie Pop Up Gallery to have your entry printed and framed for free.

Closing Day for the competition is the 22nd November. Entries will be judged by our panel of art experts and winners will be announced week commencing 23rd November. The self-portrait as a subject can be interpreted in the broadest sense of the word, entries will be judged for their innovation, imagination and creativity.

Good luck!

Tell me more

For centuries self portraiture has allowed artists to express their identity, reveal complex emotions and tell powerful stories. But something that was once the domain of artists has since become part of our everyday language in the form of the ‘selfie’. Instead of shunning selfies as a form of narcissism or a sign of our disposable culture, we’re asking people to turn the concept of selfies on their head and bring art into the mix. So what you waiting for? Express yourself, tell your story and join the #ArtoftheSelfie revolution.
